Materials & Care
Leather
Vegetable Tanned Leather is championed by leather connoisseurs for it's non-toxic, natural, slow and artisanal treatment process. Because vegetable tanning uses no synthetic coatings, the leather is allowed to ‘breathe’ - it is able to absorb moisture and oils, and goes on to form a ‘patina’ with age over time. This soft leather is delicate and will age uniquely over time.
- Protect from direct light, heat and rain. Should it become wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth
- Keep bag stuffed with tissue paper to help maintain its shape and absorb humidity, and store in the provided dustbag
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth
- Avoid commercial leather cleaners
Dokra
Dokra is a 4000 year old craft made entirely by hand using no electricity. The nature of handmade products include natural variations in curvature, metal colour, and handle design. These are brass handles that can last over a 1000 years.
- Dokra handles can be polished if desired using any brass cleaner available to you.
- If you do polish your handle, ensure the bag body is protected from the cleaner by using a protective plastic or cloth when polishing the handle.

Watch Mr. Praphulo, a 6th generation tribal artisan craft the dokra handle on this bag below.
The Kena Noir is a handmade limited edition luxury clutch bag by enarai, an independent New York–Calcutta craft brand. The handle is cast in brass using Dokra — a 4,000-year-old lost-wax metal technique practiced by tribal artisans in India from the Indus Valley Civilization. No electricity, zero waste, locally sourced, upcycled materials, single artisan, eight days, one handle. The body is vegetable-tanned soft annaline leather championed by leather connoisseurs, responsibly sourced from LWG-certified tanneries and treated with organic tannins derived from tree bark and plant matter — a process that takes up to a month and produces leather that breathes, evolves, and develops a unique patina over time. This is an artisanal, sustainable, small-batch luxury bag for the collector who understands that the rarest things are made intentionally by hand.
The Dokra handle was slowly cast over 8 days by Mr. Praphulo, a 6th-generation tribal artisan from Orissa, India. Brass handles cast in this tradition last over 1,000 years. No two pieces are identical — natural variations in curvature, metal color, and surface texture are the signature of this craft. This is not a mass produced bag. It is a numbered object part of a one-time, limited-edition series made for discerning collectors.
